Windows Theme Installer v 1.1 has been released. This update automatically patches the system files required without the need of a UXTheme Patch.

Windows Themes Installer is a free portable utility which allows you to install a theme, remove a theme, replace system files, etc. with ease in Windows 7 & Vista.

How to use Windows Themes Installer:

INSTALL A THEME AND REPLACE SYSTEM FILES:

1. Run the tool as Administrator.

2. Select the options which you want to install:

i) Theme

ii) Explorer.exe

iii) OobeFldr.dll

iv) ExplorerFrame.dll

v) Shell32.dll

3. Once you have selected the options, click on the “Browse” button and browse for the file of the desired option.

4. Now click on “Install Theme” button to install the theme and replace the system files.

RESTORE DEFAULT SYSTEM FILES:

To restore the default system files click on the “Restore Default System Files” button.

REMOVE A THEME:

To remove a theme select the theme which you want to remove from the list and click on the “Remove Theme” button.

APPLY A THEME:

To apply a theme select the theme which you want to apply from the list and click on the “Apply Theme” button.

NOTE: Does not work with 64-bit!

hello
after use this program, the program asks me to restart my computer. so, i restarted my computer. i turned on my computer as usual. after i enter the password, my desktop screen appeared and blank. just black and cursor. why?

it wasn't able to load explorer.exe or (possibly) the other files. They could be corrupted. You could try to run the program again using task manager, and restore the original theme before change.

This works on 64-bit.
But the file must be compatible.

When I look for the files other than the theme file, it wont recognize them in the folder. However, when I look in explorer, it shows them no problem.

I need to change ExplorerFrame.dll and Shell32.dll. But they're not clickable. Don't say "Restart your PC, and try again" i already tried too many times.

This actually does work for 64-bit. Removing themes is kind of buggy though.

mm i have a question.. i have win 7 ultimate 32 bit running on my laptop. this patch used to work... but suddenly without notice, it doesn't work anymore.. i can't change the explorer frame, because that option is now disabled, i can't check it anymore.. it also applied to the shell 32... do you think you know why it doesn't work anymore? because i wanted to change my explorer background, but now that the option is disabled, i can't... thank you :)
