Windows 7 Start Orb Changer is a freeware from door2windows that allows you to change your start orb/button with just one click in Windows 7.

Features:

  • Allows you to change the orb in four different ways:

    • Context Menu

    • Drag & Drop

    • Change Button

    • Command Line (Syntax only contains orb location)

  • Works with all DPIs (If the orb is too big or too small it will automatically resize it)

  • Works with both x86/32-bit and x64/64-bit

  • Works with both PNG and BMP file formats

  • Can integrate with desktop context menu

  • Can integrate with PNG and BMP file formats' context menu

  • Allows you to change the orb in two different methods:

    • Memory Patching - Edits the start orb in memory which doesn't cause any UAC prompts

    • Resource Editing - Edits the start orb by replacing resources of %windir%\explorer.exe

  • Easy-To-Use & clean interface

  • Two modes for normal and advanced users

  • First & ultimate Windows 7 start orb changer available on the net

How to use:

  1. Run the tool as administrator.

  2. Click Change.

  3. Select the start orb and click Open. You can get some orbs from these links: 1, 2

  4. The Windows Explorer will now restart automatically and you will be able to see the new start orb/button which you chose. Click OK.

To restore the original start orb click Restore.

You can expand the advanced settings by clicking the arrow at the bottom right corner of the window.

Checking the Add Shortcut In Context Menu option will add an Start Orb option in the desktop context menu so that you can access the tool with one click.

Checking the Add Option In Context Menu option will add an Set As Start Orb option in the context menu of all PNG and BMP files so that you can change your start orb with one click.

"I'm a PC, and Windows 7 was my idea." Such is the nature of the current incarnation of Microsoft Windows, the incarnation we know as Windows 7. For a time, I was content with using the previous incarnation of the OS, known far and wide as Windows Vista. But later on, in comes this new version that has become accepted far and wide as a relevant OS, just like the predecessor before that and the predecessor before that and the predecessor before that. There is something about Microsoft Windows that makes you say: this is what computing is all about.

That being said, I like the tool that you brought out here on deviantART. Now users will get to customize their own start orbs and have fun with it. I can't wait to use this baby. Five stars across. This was badly due.

bug?! when my windows explorer crashs, the original start orb show again, so i have to do it again...

i am running windows 7 starter. the start orb changed succesfully, but the wallpaper was removed and changed to its default wallpaper. i'm using oceanis to change my wallpaper. help me!

When I change the orb it always sets the door2windows orb.

Any fix?

Here's a problem I'm having: I'm trying to restore the original button and I did this on version 2.0. I don't know how!

Hey I have a problem with it, its just that it won't detect a image that I want it to but it detects all other images so how can I get this fixed?
