"I'm a PC, and Windows 7 was my idea." Such is the nature of the current incarnation of Microsoft Windows, the incarnation we know as Windows 7. For a time, I was content with using the previous incarnation of the OS, known far and wide as Windows Vista. But later on, in comes this new version that has become accepted far and wide as a relevant OS, just like the predecessor before that and the predecessor before that and the predecessor before that. There is something about Microsoft Windows that makes you say: this is what computing is all about.

That being said, I like the tool that you brought out here on deviantART. Now users will get to customize their own start orbs and have fun with it. I can't wait to use this baby. Five stars across. This was badly due.

this is a brilliant tool. Microsoft will do all they can to make the UI better, and yet it is the ability to customize the interface with tools like these that make it the best.

This tool is also extremely easy to use, and so it needs almost no input from a developer for users to be able to work it, which is more than can be said for some tools.

The program itself has an intuitive UI , and the wide vareity of options included lets individual users change the start orb in whatever way they want. Keep up the good work, Kishan Bagaria!

If it doesn't work for you, kill the explorer.exe file with the task manager, then try to do it again and start explorer.exe again via the "run" command in your task manager. That might work; at least it worked for me.

That's not a virus, the download gets flagged because the installer makes offers to download other "clean" programs during the download.

If you still paranoid, scroll down a bit in the thank you for downloading page and click direct download link.

I installed a theme by already editing the Explorer files to allow custom themes through visual styles menu...I have tried quite a few 3rd party (all trusted) without any luck.  I even used restorator to do it custom and still no luck...I can get it to work only if I restore my explorer backup :{ How can I get it to work with my theme?  I assume there may be a comparability between the explorer edits being made that is preventing the start bar from changing with my theme set.  I can try to use tuneups visual styler but it kills my system memory on more than one system so I rather not use a styler for it X-x Btw I tried multiple themes and I can only get the orb to stay changed if I use the original explorer without custom themes editted...when I change my theme to a custom one, it suddenly goes away @_@

If anyone is able to help me with this issue that would be lovely <3…
The above link is my question on the theme creators deviantart in hopes that he may have answers.  it links to the theme content.

If you were to change the Start Orb, would it only apply to 1 user?
Kishan-Bagaria Featured By Owner May 31, 2014
No, for all users together.

Oh, okay

I keep getting a weird error that makes the orb image corrupted. As far as I can tell the file format (bitmap type) and the dimensions (54x162 pixels) are correct, but for whatever reason the image gets messed up, and it looks like a bunch of black lines with half of the original orb picture on the sides.

This is the image I'm using:…

And yes I did resave the image as a bitmap file, not a JPG file.

Weird thing is that it worked on my old laptop that was running Vista, but it's not working on my Windows 7 desktop. What gives?
